Description

Solar Efficient Home!
Orientation, which is critical to house design in this climate, is often not sufficiently considered.
This Architecturally designed home built in 1969 is situated on a block facing north-east, yet has been cleverly arranged for only north-south windows to create a light filled house which is also solar efficient.
The house was designed by Brian Vogt, of Bruer, Vogt, Bruer & Hignett, who erected the building in direct control of the various sub-contractors.
This home has been built to achieve complete seclusion and a series of interesting outdoor courtyards giving pleasant views, through large ceiling to floor windows, from all rooms.
It is an excellent example of an inward looking house creating pleasant, secluded living environment on a site of approx 790sqm in Walkerville.
The house is built of white concrete masonry with a flat steel roof with wide protective overhangs to enhance solar efficiency.
Natural timber has been used extensively throughout for cupboards and woodwork. The woodwork outside is dark stained to contrast with the white walls.
The sliding aluminium doors, which give direct access from living rooms and bedrooms to garden areas, are brown anodised to match the timber.
Comprising kitchen family room, sitting room, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Superbly located in a popular blue chip, city fringe location. Extremely quiet and peaceful surrounds.
